-Contact us for a consultation and walk through. -Pack up all your personal items and have the family remove any items they want. After, we can help you sort and decide what is sellable and what is not, if needed.
How much notice do you need?
-Two to three weeks is best. As soon as you get an offer on your house or know when you want to have the belongings removed, let us know and we can begin the process. We work with the realtor and closing date and make sure everything is out by that set date.
When is the best time to conduct a sale?
-We like to have sales starting on Thursdays 10:00am to 6:00pm, Friday through Sunday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
What happens to the items that didn't sell?
-We sell most of the contents in the house. Whatever is leftover can be donated and/or picked up. We will utilize goodwill, St. Vincent Depaul, other resale store, or a local church that help families in need.
What kinds of things sell the best?
-Anything from 1950's and 1960's (furniture, vintage purses and hats, costume jewelry) -Dining room sets -Jade and other precious stones -Clocks -Quilts, cotton fabrics and vintage textiles -Sports memorabilia -Old metal trucks and toys -Stereo equipment from the 1960's -Bedroom furniture -Tools -etc
What should I throw away and what should I keep?
-Don't throw anything away until we get the chance to look at it. Generally, we would not keep items that are broken, heavily stained, or not complete but let us view these items before throwing away.
What items do not sell very well in past experiences?
-Candles, floral baskets and vases -Frames (unless ornate and old) -VHS tapes, and cassette tapes -Clear glasses or frames -Furniture from the 1980's -Printers, computer monitors and old televisions
Can I be there the day of the sale
-Many people find it too emotional and difficult to see their family heirlooms and memories being sold. It is actually key to the success of your sale that you and/or other close relatives are not present at the time of the sale. Also, it can cause problems with family members and pricing of items due to the sentimental value.
